This page is a list of songs that mean a lot to me, and reasons behind why they mean so much. Music to me is good if either the lyrics are good, or the music is good. Music only becomes great if both lyrics and music are good. However, to become meaningful the music has to explain some part of you that's hard to explain, or seem to tell a story of your past experiences. The best thing about music, and art in general, is my interpretation could be different from your interpretation, and both of our interpretations could be different from the artist. Zolan's Meaning:
This song holds a special meaning for me for a couple reasons. First of all, for the last few years at least I've been really driven to become successful, at least in my own mind. I've cut out a lot of my life just to get ahead. While this trend was starting, I was also dating one of the few people I can honestly say I loved and cared for. Well, I ended up breaking up with her to move to a bigger city and continue my strive for success. That, by the way, was one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I still have some regrets.

Zolan's Meaning:
I'm now realizing how many songs mean a lot to me because of women... I guess that's what most good music is about right? Well if you don't know who Ronnie Milsap is, don't worry. I just have a LARGE listening range when it comes to music. This song is very similar to the previous song. It's about a guy that left for the big city, leaving a girl behind. Once he got there, he realized that's not exactly what he wanted, but by the time he realized it, he was too late in regards to the woman he left behind... It's a damn depressing song if you really listen to it.

This one also relates to a woman, but as far as I know, not one I've met yet. I am a musician, and if you listen to this song, you can tell what an impact this woman had on his life. I could only hope to meet a woman that would fill me with that much life and inspiration. I have yet to find a woman with such influence.. Well positive influence..

Zolan's Meaning:
This is a new song for me. The second I payed attention to it, it quickly became an important song to me. This one actually has nothing to do with women! It's about going out on your own, and learning who you are. I have spent the last few years essentially alone, and it has been a great learning experience. I've focused on my job, and tried to keep back-stabbing money grubbing super bitches off my mind. (No bitterness here.) You learn about life's ups and downs and learn a lot in the middle.

Ok, this song is amazing. Talk about a song written for someone who is exactly like me. I have a dream of who I want to become, and I'll be damned if I let anyone get in my way. Not in a mean way. I know it's not going to be easy to get there, but I have a dream, and that dream will take me places.

Zolan's Meaning:
Ok.. Damn this is a good and bad song.. It reminds me of multiple BAD relationships I've had. It's amazing to me how much I have been lied to straight to my face by women that I really cared for and then turn around and forgive them over and over just to get lied to again... So, I finally realized that I was an idiot, and started looking out for myself first. People tell me all women are not that bad, though, I have yet to meet one. THIS, is the core reason I remain single today. I probably wouldn't be able to trust a woman right now even if I tried. So, until that one out of a million woman shows up, it's singlesville for me.

Zolan's Meaning:
This song has more of a, it meant something at some time, song. There was a stupid time in my life where I'm not really sure what I was doing. I ended up falling for an extremely close friend, and at the time she obviously felt the same, but then again she gave plenty of conflicting feelings day by day. Maybe I was some not platonic form of booty call or something. Anyway, she goes down in history as the one person that made me want to kill myself. She ripped out my heart in a way I wasn't even aware that it could be ripped out. Now that I look back on it, I must have had some issues because it wasn't like she was special by any means. She treated me like shit, and wouldn't even think about me unless I was making good money. It was sick and sad, and thank god for my best friend who kept me in touch with enough reality that I finally got over her. This gal shall also go down in history as one of the few people that I have no need to ever see again, and will feel little remorse if something bad happens to her. And that is saying a lot. I'm not that type of person. Anyway... Back to why the song meant something to me. She gave me so many conflicting feelings that I was never sure if I had offended her or did something wrong, and I so very much wanted to be the guy she ended up with, and half the time I WAS the guy she was looking for. (Who knows what she was looking for the other times.) Anyhow, This song is all about giving a relationship a try and miscommunication.

Zolan's Meaning:
Another song that remotely has to do with women, but somehow its more about people in general. When I moved away from my home town a lot of stuff happened, most of it was people stabbing me in the back. A close friend started sleeping with my girlfriend. It was a doomed relationship on my behalf, but the fact that someone that close to me could do that hurt quite a bit. My roommate/coworker that I had left behind decided I didn't need to get any money back from the deposit, and started saying nasty things behind my back. The money wasn't a big deal, but the concept behind it was. It seemed that all but my best friend betrayed me once I left town, and that is why this song means a lot to me.

Zolan's Meaning:
This song has some awesome lyrics. This song has two very great aspects to it. The first one is the explaining of hiding yourself away so much to protect yourself that you lose track of yourself. Not sharing your 'world inside of you' because to do so would give someone incredible power over you to be able to hurt you. The other aspect that makes life even harder is knowing you are going to make mistakes, and you care so much for someone that you would pretty much give your own life to make theirs better, but you still can't let them into your world because there's too much risk of pain. It's a strange feeling to be willing to do anything for someone to make them happy but not be able to give them yourself.
